Experiments in Fiction: A Manual Call and Generated Response

Experiments in Fiction: A Manual Call and Generated Response

We’ve been here before. Me and the shirt that I always wore at the end of the season. You and the dress we found in the window downtown on the way to your brother’s funeral.

It’s been a long time since we’ve been here. Together. Many of the shops are closed. The boardwalk is a little worse for wear. You could feel the first gusts of a summer breeze on the horizon, but for now, the rain keeps dotting your skin as you stand, leaning against the rail, your eyes towards the ocean, your hair glistening from the hints of sunshine peeking for the clouds above.

You don’t need to tell me what you told me last time. I’ll remember it forever.

You just need to tell me how you feel now, in this moment, as we stand here, looking alongside the beach, hearing nothing but wind, waves, and the cry of gulls.

Tell me: how do you feel?

This short piece of flash fiction — written by a human (me) — is formulated to be placed into a large language model like Claude or ChatGPT, which will return a new response each time. It is best used in Incognito Mode.
